Mayor of Uozu City

On the Occasion of the 10th Anniversary Toyama International Contemporary Art Exhibition “2026 ART/X/TOYAMA”

I would like to sincerely congratulate you on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary Toyama International Contemporary Art Exhibition “2026ART/X/TOYAMA.” This achievement is the result of the dedicated efforts of many individuals, particularly the executive committee, and I extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who supports this exhibition.

This exhibition serves as a vibrant and internationally diverse platform that brings together artists based in the local city of Toyama Prefecture, calling upon both domestic and international creators. Since its inaugural event in 2002, as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the city of Uozu, this marks the seventh occurrence of this significant exhibition.

The previous exhibition in 2022 took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, preventing overseas artists from joining us in Japan. However, having overcome these challenges, we are excited to welcome eight international artists who will showcase their original works. With ambitious pieces gathering from various regions and countries, we hope to enrich the hearts of all visitors and evoke profound emotions.

During the exhibition period, symposiums, art sessions, and workshops for children will also be held. Through this art exhibition, we anticipate that art will serve as a bridge connecting people’s hearts, contributing to the development of local culture and fostering international cultural exchange.

In conclusion, I sincerely wish for the success of this exhibition and the continued accomplishments of all participating artists. Thank you for your attention.
